Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 50 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic and Western Indian Ocean.
Diagnosis:  Colonies may form stands several meters across. They are arborescent, composed of cylindrical branches which subdivide infrequently. Corallites are tabular; axial corallites are distinctive. Color can either be pale brown or tan with white axial corallites.
Biology:  Zooxanthellate (Ref. 116012). Upper to mid reef slopes, lagoons with clear water (Ref. 846), subtidal reef tops and reef edges (Ref. 86439). In Belize, it was also found in a submarine cave at a depth of 10 m (Ref. 87209).
