Distribution:  Indo-Pacific and Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 97531. A permanent resident of the deep mesopelagic zone; does not undergo diel vertical migrations. Feeds heavily on fish and crustaceans although diet may contain phytoplankton and protist debris (Ref. 97393).
