Family:  Muricidae (purpuras, murex and rock shells), subfamily: Rapaninae
Max. size:  10 cm ShH (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Southeast and Northeast Asia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Collected locally for food in Southeast Asia (Ref. 349). Inhabits underside of corals and stones, or on rocks exposed to surf action (Ref. 349).
