Remarks Found in intertidal areas in mud or sand (Ref. 96667). Common below midtide level among coral heads and boulders (Ref. 104855). Estuarine (Ref. 106854). Mainly feeds on rocks covered by filamentous green algae. Makes sand pellets while feeding to separate edible from inedible materials (Ref. 104857). Displays occasional predatory behavior and cannibalism - reported to kill conspecifics and other ocypodid crabs (Ref. 104855).
