Sighted off southern Negros, Selinog Island, Gingoog and Butuan Bay, northern Mindanao, and near Balut Island off Saranggani, Panay, Sulu and Bohol seas, Tañon Strait, Sulawesi Sea, and Davao Gulf, South China Sea, around Babuyan Islands and Philippine Sea, southwestern Cebu, Siaton, San Francisco and Hinobaan in Negros, Balicasag, Siquijor, Narra and Balabac Palawan, Binmaley in Pangasinan, Puerto Galera near Samal Island (Refs. 936, 94963). Reported from Babuyan Islands,121°36’00", 19°18’00" (Ref. 77119). Known size is up to 548.64 cm (Ref. 936). Threats include seismic activities due to oil exploration of companies around Palawan, fisheries involving purse seine with superlights, dynamite fishing and long line entanglement in pearl farms, and anthropogenic activities (Ref. 94963).
