Quote | Bürger (1904) transferred Tatsnoskia depressa to the genus Amphiporus without adding to Stimpson's (1857) description. Iwata (1954a:21) identified a single specimen from Japan as A. depressus "in accordance with the number of ocelli", although their distribution in two oblique groups of three on either side of the head differs from the single group referred to in Stimpson's (1857) original account. Iwata's identification cannot be substantiated and Stimpson's species remains an inadequately described taxon. | |
