The exact survey dates are assumed. Surveys were conducted on an inflatable boat, covering the Cres-Losinj Special Marine Reserve as much as the weather allows throughout the whole year. For each sighting of Tursiops truncatus, the researchers attempted to take photographs of all individuals in a group. These photos were later used for mark-recapture methods to estimate the total population. Sightings were lower during the tourist season (June - August), suggesting a shift in habitat use. |
