Remarks | Dead corals dominated depths from 3.048 to 30.48 m and was speculated to be caused by Acanthaster planci. However, Cook Island government officials reported heavy use of chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides during late 1960's in this locality and several 55-gallon drums of DDT were dumped in or outside Arutanga Passage after World War II. |
